Protection From the Enemy

The enemy isn’t a topic we Christians like to think about. Including me. I know the forces of darkness are out there somewhere, but I choose to center on God and His unfailing love and power.

But sometimes, unfortunately, we encounter the enemy or his demons. At times indirectly—like observing his influence in our world. For example, enemies of the United States who delight in bombing us and doing us harm. Other times, we see people committing murder, or lying and stealing. People who seem to be operating under the enemy’s control. Let me make it plain. I don’t judge anyone else, merely contrast another person’s actions by what the Word says.

Most of the time, we don’t encounter the enemy face to face. Thank the Lord for that because it’s not a pleasant experience, although if it happens we don’t need to fear.

When Jesus was tempted by Satan, He said three times “it is written.” We have the Lord’s example of how to behave when confronted by evil. Using the word of God. In James 4:7 it says “resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

If you find yourself in a situation where you sense the actual presence of evil, don’t feel afraid to speak out an appropriate scripture in Jesus name. As God’s people, we have victory over evil and the enemy.

I had such an occasion recently. First time in all my years of being a Christian. I didn’t fear but used my spiritual weapon. And the force fled. Praise God for His Word and His power.
