I awake in the morning to face enemies that are determined to take me down, to undermine my confidence, and destroy my relationship with the Lord. Sounds rather daunting, right? But take heart. There’s hope. Lots of it!
The first enemy I face is the flesh. My flesh demands that I take care of me first. Numero uno. What are my needs today? I can’t go to Bible study today because I really need to go shopping. After all, the sale is only for one day.
The next foe I become aware of is the enemy of our souls—the devil. I have to battle those fiery darts in the form of selfish, critical, and unkind thoughts. On occasion I’m actually astounded at the mean spirit they convey.
Finally, I’m in battle with the world. My neighbor got a new car. Is my old Chevy still good enough? Don’t I deserve a new one?
Later in prayer, the Holy Spirit gently shows me the hypocrisy of my thoughts and desires. The Word teaches me about the attacks of the enemy. Sometimes I’m overwhelmed and wonder how I’m going to make it. But then, the Lord shows me verses like l John 4:4 :”You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”
Halleluiah. The devil, ugly thoughts, or worldly desires can never win in the face of my Lord’s power. They all pale in His presence.
You are a new creation in Christ and your enemies don’t stand a chance of winning. Trust in the Word of God and stand victorious today.
“In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.” Ephesians 6:11
Dear Lord, bring to mind Your Word and Your power by Your precious Holy Spirit when I go astray. Remind me I can have victory in this life. Living in Your kingdom is infinitely better than walking through life committed only to myself. Amen.
A very important message. Thank you June. Have a blessed day!
Thanks for stopping by today. Hugs
