Shh. Here’s a secret. When I first began writing Christian romance, I picked up a book by a wonderful author named Gail Gaymer Martin. Gail might not know this, but her novels inspired me as well as educated me in the art of writing a romance. Then I read her “Writing the Christian Romance,” that taught me so much more.  I’m so pleased to allow her to tell you about her newest novel, “Secrets at Rose Arbor” which I’ve already downloaded.

But first, I asked her how she comes up with her fabulous story ideas.

Book ideas come to me in various ways, and one of those ways is travels and experiences. We recently arrived home from an amazing trip to Scandinavia and Russia. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of these days, an idea strikes me that will incorporate experiences from that trip. My newest book release, Secrets at Rose Arbor, came from another trip we took a few years ago when we were in Natchez, Mississippi. We visited a bed and breakfast plantation house and spend a few days there. That experience stimulated my creativity and recently my newest release was born. I used the real layout of that house, and it did have a beautiful rose arbor in the back. I was able to contact the owner of that lovely home for more research and she was very cooperative and excited about the book. I’m excited too, since I believe it is one of the most unique novels I have written. As a novelist, I tend to view my surroundings with creativity and story possibilities. I hope that you who are authors do the same. It’s amazing what can come from visiting new places using all your senses to capture the aura and experience of where you are.
