What’s the Difference Between Earth and Heaven?

Sometimes my mind wanders to questions that stump me—like what’s going to be different about the next life? I read 1 Corinthians 13:12 that says, “Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.” It’s comforting to know one day the answers to my uncertainties will be crystal clear.

So when this question popped in my mind, I wasn’t too bothered but decided to explore it further. We live in time and space now but someday will dwell in eternity. Will it be much different than here? Though I’m not a Biblical scholar, a few ideas began to flow. Let me know where I’ve gone wrong.

Here on earth we experience change. Change in jobs, homes, situations. Life is fluid and things never stay the same. I’ve worked as a teacher, a bank teller, an insurance adjuster, and an author. I’ve lived in California, Texas, Washington state and Alabama.

The Word says in Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” I bet that applies to His Heavenly home in eternity.

Concerning age. I started out as a baby, then a teenager, a young adult, and now—a senior citizen. I’ve aged, got gray hair instead of brown. My body isn’t as limber as it once was. Yes, I can’t deny the aging process. 1Corinthians 15 tells us that in Heaven we don’t grow old.

Here on earth we’ve all experienced sickness. Revelation 21:4 says there will be no more crying or pain in Heaven. A big difference than what happens in our lives now.

Finally, we will all leave this earth someday. There is no human alive today who won’t die. Again Revelation 21 tells us there will be no more death or dying in Heaven. So, back to my question: what’s the difference between heaven and earth? On Earth we can expect change, the aging process, and eventually we’ll die. In Heaven we will live in glorified bodies in the presence of the Lord. Something wonderful to look forward to.

One final note, Heaven was designed for people who’ve been washed by the blood of Jesus and have received His salvation. Have you reached out for that divine gift? Will you live with Him for all eternity?
